Not drinking has paid off!!!!!!

Current Stats
Weight: 156.5
Start: 161.5
Goal:130
Weekly Loss: -5

The numbers look a little weird because I am back-dating to the Monday before my last post (which was on a Wednesday).

Week 7: Project Weight Loss

I weighty decision:

I've had the craziest few weeks, party after party, after party, after party.

Drinking NON-STOP.

Since my last update my weight sky-rocketed up to 161.5 again.

WTF

Technically I had still been working out regularly, and my clothes were fitting just fine (some even loose), so I'm actually thinking that I was replacing some fat with some muscle (thankfully).  And I also did new measurements and lost some inches.

In order to take control of some shit I have decided to cut out drinking (booze) for 2 weeks to see if that helps anything. Kind of detox to kick start some shit.

Started officially on Monday.

Obviously this works well, I've lost 4lbs since Monday. FOUR!

Current Stats:
Weight: 157.5
Start: 160
Goal: 130
Weekly loss: -1.5
Total loss: 2.5

Measurements
Start Waist: 34.5
Current Waist: 33 (-1.5)
Start Hip: 44
Current Hip: 43 (-1)
Start Thigh: 23
Current Thigh: 24.75 (+1.75) (think I may have measured wrong the first time)
Start Arm: 11.5
Current Arm: 11 (-0.5)
Start Chest: forgot to measure :(
Current Chest: 39

So, overall, not too bad!

Besides, I'm under a new way of thinking, I'm trying to get STRONG not lose actual weight, the fat will eventually be replaced by muscle. I have read a lot the past couple weeks about this. And honestly, check out the measurements, that is great, so even though technically I had only lost a very small amount from the start of all of this, the measurements are proof that shit is going down!

Update: I'm happy to say that I'm starting week 3. Things have been going well so far. I am running a little more than I thought I could. I know it starts getting harder next week. So lets keep this shit moving!

Week 7 Goals:
  1. No alcohol
  2. Start 20-30 minute interval workout daily
  3. Finish week 3 of 5K Runner
  4. Play tennis 2x

Week 5: Project Weight Loss

So........ I realize it has been much longer than one week since my last weight check-in. Obviously with the wisdom tooth fiasco I was set off a little. Actually I lost a lot of weight from not being able to eat for a couple weeks, sadly it all came back!

The good news is that I've started getting back in a workout routine. I started Couch to 5K this past week and am back on track with playing a few hours of tennis per week.

Using the 5K Runner Application on my iPhone (which I love!) it is making it so easy to start running, something I've always wanted to do.

Definitely check it out! The 4 days of running are on a free app, then you can upgrade for $2.99 if you feel that it is something you are going to continue. In total it is an 8 week program that, so far, seems like the perfect running intervals (not to hard so far!). This is the logo to look for:

Wisdom Teeth, and Why They Hate Me.

First I will start by saying I deeply apologize for not keeping up with some recent updates. I have not abandoned my weight loss check-in, I've just been preoccupied with other junk. I have also new news on the fertility front (met with doctor and financial consultant person). I will update that stuff later.

The most pressing matter (mentioned in post title) my wisdom teeth.

(Look how deep that bottom tooth is, no-the-fuck-wonder)

It all started a few years ago. I got my top two wisdom teeth extracted. Other than a somewhat disturbing few minutes of tugging and pulling it was fine. Minimal pain, a few Advil and a few days later I was back to normal.

At the time I opted to skip doing all 4, because I'm a little whinny bitch.

Fast forward to a few short months ago. The pain started to return, almost daily, mainly on my bottom right wisdom tooth.  I was interviewing a lot at that point and decided I better wait until I either got a new job or decided to stay. I did end up with a new job, and have been here for a couple months.

I decided it was time to make my move...

aka evict the teeth.

At this point they had been bothering me very regularly and I was not a happy camper.

I decided that, as an adult (which I struggle to be most times) I needed to call and schedule a time to get them out.

Two Fridays ago was the day. I went in, C in tow, like a big girl. I was knocked out (kind of half way) and the deed was done.

Before you read my daily dairy of terribleness let me say I actually wrote this DAYS ago, to about here and was in such bad pain I thought I was going to jab my hand through my computer screen...

Day 1: (friday)  LALALALlalalalLALA drugs and ice feel sooo nice :)

Day 2: (saturday) Advil and ice are my friends (so are steroids and antibiotics!)

Day 3: (sunday) hmmmm....today doesn't feel very good... maybe it's because they said no more ice?

Day 4: (monday) Noooo. This is not good.

Day 5: (tuesday, back to work) OMYYGOODNESS WTF is wrong with my FACE!??!

Day 6: (wednesday, stayed home from work) Up at 5am in PAIN OMG PAIN!!!! Call oral surgeon office at 8:31am, MUST. COME. IN. TODAY!!!!!!! (nothing exciting was learned)

Day 7: (thursday, work) FUCK YOU MOUTH. FUCK YOU SO MUCH. Why do you even exist?!?!??!?!?!?!

Day 8: (friday) Oral surgeon follow up appointment, basically said I was being a little bitch and that it is surgery and duh, it takes time to heal. The rest of the day was me trying really hard not to physically hurt myself to derail my mind from the mouth/head pain.

Day 9: (saturday) Ice pack: rediscovered. Thank you. (I thought I was taking less Advil starting this day, as it turns out I was taking 400mg over the recommended daily dose...oops)

Day 10: (sunday) ice glued to face all day. drinking also helps.

Day 11: (monday, work) OMG why does my left temple feel like it is going to implode!?!??! First day headache overshadowed toothy pain. (improvement?)

Day 12: (tuesday aka today) WoAH....? Day 1 of mild pain. MILD BITCHES!!! How does it go from intense to mild?! Maybe all the pain has killed nerves in my head???

And that is my story.

Week 4: Poject Weight Loss

I would definitely say this week has gone MUCH better than the previous weeks.

I will give credit to:

  • My low-point soup
  • Actually writing shit down
....EVEN when I've gone out
  • And, in general, wanting to actually stick with it

Week 4

Current Stats
Weight: 158.5lbs
Height: 5'5"
Goal Weight: 130lbs
Weekly Loss: -2.5 lb
Total : -1.5 lb

Mini Goal Breakdown: (I'm updating this because I've decided I was being a little unrealistic)

01/28/2013 - 158lbs - Almost made it!!

02/25/2013 - 150lbs

03/25/2013 - 142lbs

04/29/2013 - 134lbs

Also, I made a new soup last night that is 1.5 points per bowl.

Katy's 1.5 Point Corn Chowder  - Crock Pot Style

(I'm following the old point system, so this will not be the same for the point-plus people)

  • 1 14.5 oz can whole kernel corn
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 1 cup (fresh or frozen) green beans, broken into 1” pieces
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup Mushrooms (I used brown crimini)
  • Medium red bell pepper (I used 2 because I looove them so)
  •  One package dry Country Gravy (for spices)
  • 2 cups non-fat Milk
  • 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • (you can add whatever other veggies you like)
Chop all veggies and throw them in the crock pot.
Add broth
Set to low for 8 hours
After 8 hours combine the gravy package and milk, stir then add to chowder.
Add cheese.
Stir and enjoy!

Mid Week (3 part) Weight Update

This is kind of a random post, but for some reason really felt the need to say something...

Part 1:

Soup

I posted the recipe I found/created and would like to share that after day 1 of soup I decided it needed some hard core flavor enhancing. I went home stuck it back in the crock pot on HIGH for 3 hours and it seems to have cooked the lentils better. (from now on I will always cook them on the stove ahead of time) I also added the following:

Ass-load more Curry Powder (I guess it was maybe 2 tbps)
1 tbsp more Paprika
1 tbsp more Cumin
1 tsp more Cayenne
1 tsp Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

(so basically anything I had within my reach I threw some in. Those are IN NO WAY exact measurements btw)

Part 2:

Measurements

I meant to post this on Monday. C and I decided to take our measurements so that we had a starting off point and didn't have to try to guess it later.

Waist: 34.5
Hips: 44
Thighs: 23
Arm:11.5

Writing this out now I just realized I missed Bust measurements, I'll add that next week.

Part 3:

Weight loss update

Success!!!!!! I definitely feel like I am doing something right this week. I'm pretty sure I'm just losing a lot of water weight, and I'll wait until the actual check-in day to post a weight (in case it fluctuates and I feel like a sack of shit for jumping the gun.)

I seriously attribute this week to the soup and actually writing down what I'm eating. I'm really  noticing that the soup banishes those horrible hunger pains, but I know that I'm only eating 1 point.

Seeeeee  Proof!!!

This, my friend, kicks freakin ass.

That is all!

Except for this, because it is funny... I wish my fridge wasn't stainless steel so I could use magnets on it! HAHAHA!!

Week 3: Project Weight Loss

The results were disappointing this week. Though I shouldn't be too disappointed, since I haven't been putting in nearly as much effort as I should.

BUT, even if I screw up one day (or one week) I get right back on it! So that must count for something....right?

This weeks goal...

WRITE. DOWN. EVERYTHING....BITCH!

I really think this should help me determine where I'm going off. My only current theory is wine. Damn wine. You always mess with me!

Week 3

Current Stats
Weight: 161lbs
Height: 5'5"
Goal Weight: 130lbs
Weekly Loss: 0 lb
Total : +1 lb  :(

(sadly had to edit this because I weighed myself a few minutes later and it was 161 so I changed it)

Mini Goal Breakdown:

01/28/2013 - 150lbs - will probably have to update this... obviously...

02/25/2013 - 140lbs

03/25/2013 - 135lbs

04/29/2013 - 130lbs

Another goal for this week is the low LOW point WW soup.

I caught the cooking bug yesterday and made my first edible crock-pot creation.

We'll call it:

Katy's 1 Point Veggie Lentil Soup

So creative...I know.

Also, I'm following the old point system, so this might not be the same for the point-plus people.

In case you are interested here is the recipe, notes at the bottom for what I would change next time.

  • 1 cup frozen or fresh whole kernel corn
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced into 1/2” pieces
  • 1 cup (fresh or frozen) green beans, broken into 1” pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes instead
  • 5 cups vegetable broth
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 ½ cups (dry) brown lentils
  • 1 cup Mushrooms (I used brown crimini)
  • 1 small zucchini
  • Medium red bell pepper
  • ½ tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • ½ tbsp. Curry Powder
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
I cut it all that shit up, then dumped it all in the crock pot at the same time and set it for 8 hours on low.

Suggestions:

*It could have used 10 hours for sure
*Add more spices (I don't care what kind...friend suggested Cumin, Oregano, Chipotle Chili Powder)

The best part about this is that you can use whatever the hell you want!

You hate zucchini?! Don't add it!

You love cabbage!? Throw that shit in there!

(This is not my soup, I forgot to take a picture, credit goes here, which btw looks like a great recipe too!)

Week 2: Project Weight Loss

Sadly, nothing that interesting to report this week. I lost 1 pound. I can't complain it is better than nothing!

I probably should do a better job at actually writing down my points daily and making sure I'm not accidentally eating more (or less) than I should be.

Week 2

Current Stats
Weight: 159lbs
Height: 5'5"
Goal Weight: 130lbs
Weekly Loss: 1 lb
Total : -1 lb

Mini Goal Breakdown:

01/28/2013 - 150lbs

02/25/2013 - 140lbs

03/25/2013 - 135lbs

04/29/2013 - 130lbs

Week 1: Project Weight Loss

And.... I'm back! Taking my new year's commitments seriously!

The top goals I'm trying to work on are all about health. I have finally set up some doctors appointments to meet with two different RE's to get more information on IVF and what we are looking at cost-wise and for a time frame.

I REALLY need to get two of my wisdom teeth out, as I have daily reminders with painful and achy teeth :(

Also, I'm rapidly approaching my 30th birthday (late April) and I would like to get some regular health tests run to make sure I am doing ok in general.

And lastly, but also, importantly, weight loss. As stated in the previous entry, I'm going to try to keep myself accountable and honest by posting a Monday weekly weigh in/update.

So here we go.........

Week 1

Current Stats
Weight: 160lbs
Height: 5'5"
Goal Weight: 130lbs
Weekly Loss: n/a
Total Loss:n/a

Mini Goal Breakdown:

01/28/2013 - 150lbs

02/25/2013 - 140lbs

03/25/2013 - 135lbs

04/29/2013 - 130lbs

I'm using weight.watchers (the old plan) to do this. It has been the only thing that has worked for me consistently. I will start working out more regularly when I've made a dent in my current weight. Maybe after a 10-15lb loss. I don't want to discourage myself, even though...yes...I know working out is good!

I tried to find a good "before" type picture. Apparently I'm really good at avoiding full body shot photos... I'll work on that....
